Pamela Cando
Dietitian
About me
Pamela Cando is a registered dietitian-nutritionist (RDN) and a New York State certified dietitian-nutritionist (CDN). She is a proud Ecuadorian bilingual registered dietitian based in New York. Pamela enjoys food and she is passionate about helping clients enjoy food without following rigid diet rules, improve physical health and embrace overall wellbeing. She obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from Hunter College School of Public Health. Pamela completed her dietetic internship at Hunter College where she went on to work in outpatient counseling as a clinical dietitian. While working in an outpatient clinic, Pamela learned how trendy and rigid diets can lead to an overwhelming obsession with “good foods” and weight change. These experiences led her to adopt a weight-neutral approach in her own practice.
Pamela takes an individualized, weight-inclusive, trauma informed approach to medical nutrition therapy so clients can enjoy cultural foods with confidence. Through bilingual virtual nutrition counseling, she helps pregnant people to improve overall wellness by trusting themselves around food and most of all enjoying eating food without fear and confusion. Pamela has experience in providing nutrition therapy and counseling in prenatal and postnatal care in the clinical setting. She works together with clients towards flexible and sustainable behaviors while managing prediabetes, diabetes or gestational diabetes. She also helps clients improve overall wellness by trusting themselves around food while mananging other nutrition related conditions such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
